A marine anti-swingchair was donated to XMU research vessel -Tan Kah Kee

On June 6th 2016, a donation ceremony for the New Xiamen university (XMU) research vessel-‘Tan Kah Kee’ was held on the Siming Campus, Xiamen University. At the ceremony, Xiamen Jumeirah Technology Limited Company (Jumeirah) donated one marine anti-swingchair (with magnetic switch) to ‘Tan Kah Kee’.

Dr. Wang Haili, the deputy dean of the College of Ocean and Earth Sciences (COE) and Zhao Zhongping, the vice president of Jumeirah signed the donation agreements at the ceremony. Party secretary of COE, Qiu Qixing presided over the ceremony. Qiu expressed his gratitude for this important support from Jumeirah. Meanwhile, he emphasized that the construction of the research vessel welcome more strong support from the whole society.

Chairman of Jumeirah, Jiang Liping, narrated how the anti-swing chair had been created: generally, people have to tie the chairs together in order to withstand the stormy waves at sea, from which drew his inspiration. This design concept has already been applied for a patent and this could also be applied to other marine equipments in the near future.

Jiang sincerely expressed his hope that his company could carry out further industry-training-research cooperation with COE and even the whole university. Jiang said, this was the beginning of donation from Jumeirah, his company will constantly provide more patented technology products to ‘Tan Kah Kee’ in the future.
